A Study on the Relationship between Self-Disclosure and Mental Health

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between self-disclosure and mental health during clinical practice.
The subject for this study was composed of 99 nursing students.
To collect necessary data, questionnaire was distributed to the students.
The tool of measurement was Jourard¢¥s Self-Disclosure Questionnaire and the standardized SCL-90-R.
Data Analysis was done by using frequency, Anova, Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The following results were obtained.
1. There was a significant difference in self-disclosure among attitude (M= 24.52), taste (M= 27.67), personality (M= 26.68), money (M= 20.62), clinical practice (M= 32.38), body (M= 24.46) (F= 43.60, P < 0.001).
2. There was a significant difference in self-disclosure among family (M= 61.11), friend (M= 67.77), professor (M= 16.06), medical team (M= 11.39) (F= 355.89, p < 0.001).
3. There was no correlation between scores of self-disclosure and mental health (r= -0.048).
